Tanks in Town is an international event organized each year by the Royal Mons Auto Moto Club to celebrate the liberation of Mons through a life-size showcase of military vehicles, historical exhibitions, and dynamic demonstrations. For three days, enthusiasts, collectors, families, and the curious alike are invited to dive into the duty of remembrance and discover the evolution of military engineering in a festive, welcoming atmosphere.
2025 Theme: Ordnance Department & Recovery – WWII & Post-WWII
In any army, the Ordnance Department plays a crucial role: supplying, maintaining, and repairing vehicles and weapons. During conflict, providing mechanical recovery at the front can mean the difference between victory and defeat—blocked tanks, broken-down vehicles… these strategic missions are often unknown to the general public.
After 1945, the techniques developed to meet wartime emergencies were quickly redirected toward civilian industry and reconstruction: workshop vehicles, mobile cranes, all-terrain trucks… These post-war “pioneer” machines laid the foundations of modern heavy-duty motorization.
Through this theme, we aim to honor the logistical and mechanical teams—the true unsung heroes—while showcasing technical evolution.
